Ice Skater Adam Rippon Calls Out Gold Medalist Alexei Yagudin & Donates $1k in His Name

Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon donated $1,000 in Russian gold medalist Alexei Yagudin‘s name due to his homophobic and transphobic statement.

On Twitter, Adam explained, “When Olympic gold medalists, Alexei Yagudin, found out I donated to a charity that helps black trans people he said that he COULDNT WAIT for people like me to die. Because of that I feel INSPIRED to donate another $1000 to the @TheOkraProject but this time, in his name.”

The Okra Project is an organisation “that seeks to address the global crisis faced by Black Trans people by bringing home cooked, healthy, and culturally specific meals and resources to Black Trans People wherever we can reach them.”

Adam added, “There are so many homophobic, transphobic, and racist people in sports and it will not be tolerated. It doesn’t matter how well respected they might be in their own sport. If they are hateful, they suck.

“He [alexi} apologised but I don’t accept it. He can take his apology, homophobia, transphobia, racist comments, and his Olympic gold medal and shove them up his ass.” said Adam.
