Drag Race Star: I have MS

RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star Veronica Green has revealed a crippling diagnosis of multiple sclerosis (MS), a progressive condition affecting the brain and spinal cord.

Sharing the news on Instagram, Veronica explained how she became “very sick” over the summer, experiencing numbness and losing the use of her hands. After undergoing several tests, including MRIs and a lumbar puncture, she was diagnosed with MS. “Thankfully, my body has returned to ‘normal,’ and I’ve regained all of my fine motor skills,” she wrote, but added that she now suffers from “neuropathic pain in my hands.”

MS has no cure, and while Veronica remains uncertain about how it will affect her long-term, she is taking steps to manage the disease. “Realistically, I could be walking with a cane in 5 years and in a wheelchair in 10,” she said, though she’s hopeful that therapies and lifestyle changes could help delay further progression.

Veronica chose to share her story to raise awareness about MS and to document her journey. “I hope to be able to work for many years to come, and this is merely the beginning of my MS journey,” she added.

Messages of support poured in from fellow Drag Race stars, including Elektra Fence, Danny Beard, and Scarlett Harlett, who called Veronica an “icon” and sent her love. Despite the challenges, Veronica remains focused on her career, determined to keep performing for as long as possible.
